Privacy policy

Updated

Your files stay on your device. Every tool on Benchmo today runs in your browser: images, PDFs, spreadsheets and text are processed on your phone or computer and are never sent to our servers. We could not see your files even if we wanted to.

What we do not collect

  • The files you open in the tools, and anything inside them.
  • What you type into the tools (QR content, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details, text to read aloud).
  • Accounts: there are none, so there are no names, passwords or email addresses to store.

What is collected, and by whom

Hosting. The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and stop attacks. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Visit statistics. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not track you across sites. It tells us which pages are visited, from which countries and devices, in aggregate.

Google Analytics. We also use Google Analytics 4 to see how visitors find and use the site: pages viewed, how they arrived (for example from a search), country, device and browser. It sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_…) that last up to two years, and Google processes the data under its own privacy policy. Advertising features are off. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked first in a small banner, and Google Analytics loads only if they accept; the choice can be changed at any time with “Cookie choices” at the bottom of every page. It is never loaded when your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. Nothing about your files is sent to it. To opt out everywhere, use Google’s opt-out add-on or delete the cookies in your browser.

Advertising. Benchmo plans to show Google ads to cover its costs. Ads are not shown yet. When they start, Google and its partners will use cookies to show and measure ads, visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent first through Google’s consent tool, and this section will be updated with the details and the date.

Text to speech. If you choose a voice marked “online”, your browser’s maker (Google in Chrome, Microsoft in Edge) receives the text to speak it, under its own privacy policy. Voices marked “on this device” send nothing.

Email. If you write to us, we receive what you send and use it only to answer you.

Stored in your browser

Some tools remember things in your browser’s local storage, which never leaves your device: the week you entered in the time card calculator, and the tools you used recently. The installable app version may keep copies of pages and tool code so they open offline. Clearing your browser’s site data removes all of it.

If we add tools that use a server

Some conversions, such as Word to PDF, need a server. None is live today. If we add one, its page will say so clearly, and uploaded files will be deleted right after the result is sent to you, with an automatic cleanup within one day as a backstop. File contents are never logged. This policy will list those tools before they launch.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about tool users, there is usually nothing to access or delete; if you have written to us, we can delete that correspondence on request. Contact: [email protected].
